I have lived in Guildford since 1989. I was a teacher for 8 years and sports administrator by profession, retiring in December 2015 after 30 years of commuting to London.
I am passionate about volunteering and helping in my
local community. I joined our WI to make new friends when I retired and I am a member of the walking, eating and ‘viewing’ groups (reflecting my hobbies!).
I am a newcomer to Spike WI having joined in June 2017 and am keen to get to know more people by helping on the committee. I’ve lived in Guildford for about 27 years and have recently taken a break from work.
I can’t quite bring myself to say retired yet but I’m getting there!
I’ve enjoyed the walking group and supper club so far and am also a keen gardener.
I have been a member of the Guildford WI for a few years now and volunteered to be Secretary for last year and really enjoyed the challenge of learning new skills, meeting new folk and eating a lot of cake. I thought I would do it for another year as there is a slight possibility I might know what to do now :) !
I like cake and wine and not too fussed which Order.
I was born in 1965 in Brighton and I have lived in Guildford since 1993. I joined the Spike WI in March 2013 and have been a keen member ever since. I co-ordinate our Champneys Spa Evenings and take the lead on our film and theatre trips.
I organised my first day trip to Winchester in December and, as everyone says it was a great success, may be asked to organise more!
I’ve been a member of Spike WI since its beginning and love this open, friendly, dynamic community. It’s a wonderful counterpart to my ‘other’ life of writing about the delights of the
UK tech industry!
When I take my techie hat off I like to spend time working on my allotment, bushcrafting, chilling out at music festivals and attending our book club.
Having joined the committee in 2016 and taken the role of programme co-ordinator, I would like to carry on contributing.
I’ve been a member of Spike WI since the beginning of 2014 and was a member of last year’s committee, arranging the programme with Angela.
I work at the university locally, managing EU research projects and a couple of labs in the Electronic Engineering department. I manage to balance my career with a healthy addiction to Gardening and DIY.
I take part in the Stitching group, corral the book group and enjoy the pudding and supper groups.
